Serving Douglasville
Personal Injury Lawyer in Douglasville, GA
Douglasville sits on I-20 west of Atlanta, next to one of the metro's busiest warehouse corridors. Trucks and commuters share the same roads. If you were hurt, call Jeff Snell.

I-20 West
I-20 is Douglas County’s link to Atlanta, and it carries commuters, freight and through traffic heading toward Alabama. Rush-hour slowdowns produce rear-end chains; the interchanges at Chapel Hill Road, Highway 5 and Thornton Road produce merging crashes. The share of tractor-trailers on this stretch is high, and crashes involving them are more serious. See truck accidents.
Thornton Road and the warehouse corridor
Thornton Road (Highway 6), around its interchange with I-20 and up through Lithia Springs, is lined with distribution centers and warehouses. Tractor-trailers turn in and out all day, often making wide turns across lanes and pulling slowly into traffic. For drivers sharing that road, the result is crash types that rarely happen elsewhere. There are wide-turn collisions, crashes with trucks entering the road, and rear-end crashes behind slow trucks.
The rest of the map
Chapel Hill Road carries much of Douglasville’s residential and shopping traffic south of I-20, past Arbor Place. Fairburn Road (Highway 92) runs north-south through the county. Both have the left-turn and pull-out crashes typical of busy suburban roads.
Warehouse work
The same distribution centers employ thousands of people, and warehouse work injures people in predictable ways. Think of back injuries from lifting, forklift accidents, falls at loading docks, and strain from picking and packing at rate. Those are workers’ compensation claims — and they are frequently disputed, especially injuries that built up over time rather than happening in one moment. If the injury came on gradually, you may still have a claim.
Truck drivers and delivery drivers hurt in crashes while working may have two claims: see work-related car accidents and delivery driver accidents.
Douglas County
Douglasville is the county seat, and Douglas County’s courts are here. Most injury claims settle; if one goes to court, where it is filed depends on where the at-fault party lives.
The rules
Georgia is an at-fault state. Your recovery is reduced by any share of fault assigned to you and barred at 50% (O.C.G.A. § 51-12-33). Most injury claims must be filed within two years (O.C.G.A. § 9-3-33). Work injuries must be reported within 30 days (O.C.G.A. § 34-9-80) and the claim generally filed within one year (O.C.G.A. § 34-9-82).
What to do now
Get treated and keep every appointment. Get the report number from the Douglasville Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, or the Georgia State Patrol. If a truck was involved, photograph the company name and the DOT number on the cab. Do not give a recorded statement to any insurer.
